چکیده

We discuss the critical behavior of nonequilibrium anisotropic systems, particularly the driven lattice gas and its variants. A large series of available numerical results depict a coherent picture consistent with speci c predictions drawn from novel eld theory and its renormalization group analysis. c © 2000 Elsevier Science B.V. Phase transitions in driven lattice gases.

We have studied nonequilibrium lattice gases whose particles are driven by a field. The lattice is either a half-occupied square lattice or else the union of two energetically uncoupled ones. Monte Carlo simulations of the latter, which is always crossed by a dissipative particle current, show a tricritical point and a continuum of Ising-like critical points as the field is decreased, in additi...

Power Law Decay of Correlations in Stationary Nonequilibrium Lattice Gases with Conservative Dynamics

We report computer simulations and high-temperature approximations of the pair correlation in a stationary nonequilibrium system, a lattice gas subject to a strong uniform driving field E. The dynamics of the system is given by hoppings of particles to adjacent empty sites with rates biased for jumps in the direction of E. We study the anisotropic short-distance behavior as well as the long-dis...

Nonequilibrium Phase Transition in Stochastic Lattice Gases: Simulation of a Three-Dimensional System I

We report results of computer simulations of a three-dimensional lattice gas of interacting particles subject to a uniform external field E. The dynamics of the system is given by hoppings of particles to nearby empty sites with rates biased for jumps in the direction of E. As for the two-dimensional system we find that here too there exists a critical temperature, Tc(E ) such that for T < T~(E...

Long-Range Correlations in Stationary Nonequilibrium Systems with Conservative Anisotropic Dynamics

We present results of computer studies of the spatial correlations in two nonequilibrium model systems. These are lattice gases on 2' described by (apparently) nonGibbsian probability measures which are stationary with respect to simple, anisotropic, particleconserving stochastic dynamics. The translation-invariant pair correlation functions G(r) are found to decay like a quadrupole field, i.e....

Is the particle current a relevant feature in driven lattice gases?

By performing extensive Monte Carlo simulations we show that the infinitely fast driven lattice gas (IDLG) shares its critical properties with the randomly driven lattice gas (RDLG). All the measured exponents, scaling functions, and amplitudes are the same in both cases. This strongly supports the idea that the main relevant nonequilibrium effect in driven lattice gases is the anisotropy (pres...
